Hi! My name is Sybil, and I’m currently a sophomore at CUNY Hunter. I am also a Macaulay Honors student. I am an anthropology major and aspiring psychology minor, and no, I’m not really sure what I’m doing after college. No do-or-die goals, no five-year plan. I think that’s okay. I’ve fiddled with the idea of graduate school, and it remains a possibility. I am in no hurry to join the tedious, sluggish routine of the 9-to-5′er: strangely enough, that doesn’t appear to be a requirement in achieving joy and stability in life. Although I may be a bit biased, believing that stability is overrated. Joy, however? I’ll take it…maybe elsewhere!
Okay, but seriously. I’ve always loved cultures, and I’d love to be able to work with different types of people and make at least some impact on a life. Anthropological fieldwork abroad sounds simply amazing, but attempting to think about it rationally and realistically tickles me silly and still feels like a faraway notion, something a mature, intellectual woman armed with a PhD and prepping to write a book would do. Not me. Yet…I wonder if I would ever become that woman?
I love to travel (betcha that was a hard one to figure out)! I also love singing, sweet foods, Japanese things, sunsets, experimental cooking, sleeping, hugs, crime shows, DiFara’s pizza, and those wonderful people in my life God has blessed me with. You know who you are.
